OUR COMMITMENT TO INCLUSIVITY

Our persistent goal is to create an environment where individuals of all backgrounds and skill level can pursue a lifelong participation in sport. We follow Canada Soccer's Guide to Accessibility and Inclusion

Additional resources and courses that help support different accessabiltiy and inclusion training can be found HERE.

The Strathmore Soccer Association has a take-it or leave-it equipment exchange opportunity open for all players throughout the season. By partnering with organizations such as Jumpstart, KidSport and local businesses, we endeavor to overcome economic hurdles that could be a barrier for participation.

In addition, we run/ participate in free to access community activities that promote inclusivity by displaying our diverse and tight knit membership. Events include the Strathmore Heritage Day Parade, open trials, and local school’s sports and rec programming up to and including dedicated academies. Our Teenage Junior Coaches are often actively involved in Sprots and Recreational Leadership education pathways offered via the Strathmore High School.

We recognize and celebrate the diverse cultures that make up our membership by proudly displaying our player individuality such as name bars in players native languages.

The SSA embraces our global connection by nurturing a strong relationship with the International Student program in Strathmore. Providing these students, a much-needed athletic outlet during their time away from home. This program is made possible in thanks to the dedication of our members at large who volunteer to provide transportation, communication, and at times emotional support to these minor students living away from family. The SSA has provided a home for students to participate in sports from India, Mexico, Spain, Argentina, South Corea and more. This mutually beneficial arrangement has helped our membership foster lifelong connections, and opportunities to learn about other cultures and taking steps to creating truly global citizens.

The Strathmore Soccer Association aims to maintain a student like mentality. If you recognize an opportunity for us to be more inclusive or for our program to be more accessible to community members, we welcome this discussion. To start the conversation, email info@strathmoresoccer.ca
