Grassroots Program Coordinator

Overview: 

The primary role for this position is to oversee the development/evolution and delivery of the Strathmore Soccer Association’s Grassroots Skills Centre. The “Skills Centre'' or “Grassroots Program” is our in-house grassroots development program serving players from U4-U9. The role will require the development, maintenance and updating of drills, session plans and program outlines following the SSA Technical Teams framework and guiding principles of SSA. This role will work closely with the Grassroots Administrator and under the direction of the Technical Director. The Coordinator will also be responsible for managing and supervising Jr. Coaches and Grassroots coaches during program delivery and is expected to be onsite for the duration of Grassroots programming.

Wage: $25/ hour considered a hired contractor; payment methods can be flexible.

Reporting Relationship:

Under the direction of the Technical Director this role leads in the development/evolution of the grassroots programming. This role will work with the Grassroots Coaches, Jr. Coaches, other Program Coordinators and/or Coaching teams within their designated program.

Qualifications:

Must have completed a minimum of 1 year (2 seasons) in a coaching capacity/Coach management capacity.

• Required Courses:
• NCCP Community Stream Coaching program for which they will be designing programming.
• Making Headway in Sports
• Making Ethical Decisions
• Respect In Sport for Community Leaders
• Safe Sport
• Rule of 2 Module
• Emergency Action Plan

A C Diploma and/or Youth License is an asset. Preference will be given to members in good standing with the Association. 

Responsibilities: 

• Develop/adjust the program for the season in alignment with the provided SSA framework and have it completed, approved, sent to admin for printing/laminating as necessary
• Ensure the programming is delivered as intended and meets or exceeds the latest standards or license requirements. 
• Prepare coach binders/manual for season program information. Provide a weekly email with updates for coaches on what will be delivered over the following week.
• Provide a fun and welcoming environment for all players and coaches
• Ensure that all Grassroots and Jr. Coaches understand the activities for the session, are demonstrating the activity and providing adequate feedback on the coaching points. 
• Be the point of contact for any parents who have questions, concerns or comments and direct them to the appropriate resource if escalation is required
• Organize parent volunteers who have signed up via the Team App.
• Ensure that the program looks and feels organized
• Ensure that the coaches are on task and engaging players positively 
• Track the timing of the activities and whistle when rotations are required
• Look after any players who are causing a behavioral concern or supporting coaches with such players
• Complete incident reports for injury or serious behavioral concerns, send them to the admin/tech ASAP
• Perform first aid on injured players, this can include spray and bandages for turf burn, providing ice packs, or administrating a splint ect. 
• Ensure that all coaches arrive on time, in proper uniform, knowing their activities, or support them if they don’t 
• Remind all coaches to complete their time reporting. 
• Complete and track all coach interventions that is made in a 2:1 ratio
• At all times follow the Rule of Two
